Neive is where the hills of the Langhe meet the Monferrato. It owes its name to the noble Roman family – “Gens Naevia” – to which it once belonged. The origins of this centre are far older however: the first settlements we know of date back around 5,000 years to the Neolithic period. Neive still bears the signs of the many peoples and conquerors who over the course of the centuries have left their mark on the village, in particular its historic centre known as one of the most beautiful in Italy. Visitors are spoilt for choice: historical and artistic sightseeing tours take in a host of churches, buildings and monuments, and a network of nature trails offers magnificent scenery to be enjoyed on foot or mountain bike.

No portrait of Neive would be complete however without highlighting its wines: Barbaresco DOCG, Barbera d’Alba DOC and Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, These are the pride and joy of the village and its surrounding hills, where the special microclimate and a love for the land produce what is unquestionably Neive’s greatest asset, its wine production.
